The Wizarding World of Harry Potter

While the release of the final films is exciting, another opening took fan’s hearts this year. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter had its grand opening this summer. While it may not be a wise idea to go this year (with lines reaching six hours on day one) here’s what you can look forward to.What you will be most eager to see is the full scale replica of Hogwarts castle. Walk through the infamous School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and visit Dumbledore’s office as well as the Gryffindor common room. Hogwarts is also home to the park’s biggest ride: Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey. So alongside viewing the castle for yourself, you get to participate in one of Harry’s quests.Other rides involve the magical creatures from the Harry Potter books. Guests can ride a Hippogriff on Flight of the Hippogriff or choose from two dangerous dragons on Dragon Challenge.Universal Studios went a step farther than providing unforgettable rides. The park makers also recreated the restaurant and shops from the stories. Build up your supply of magical equipment at Dervish and Banges and Ollivander’s wand shop. Or you can visit the Owl Post, Zonko’s , and Filch’s Emporium of Confiscated Goods. Just don’t forget to indulge in some magical candy at Honeydukes, too . . . although, you may want to avoid some of those Bertie Bott’s Beans. To end the day off right, down a good ol’ Butterbeer and British meal at the Three Broomsticks. The movies let us watch Harry’s adventures come to life; however, at the Wizarding World theme park, we get to live those journeys for ourselves. Wait until the crowds die down and then plan your visit.
